Jordan,

With your interest in creating technical documents, this will be the page where you will begin to have a conversation as well as post ideas and things you might use to create some of the technical documents as well as an employee handbook that you might use and hopefully for things that Ed will follow up and use even after you have completed your work this summer. There are a number of publications about regarding the creation of manuals or handbooks. In fact, I have some in my office that I believe we might plan to use. We can chat about that on Thursday when we are all in the lab. In addition, it is my hope that you will put things you use here so that following the summer you will still have access to it because you have access to the wiki.

As with the other pages in the wiki, it is my intention that all of you should use each page and work to edit each person's work. Again, thanks for your work here.

Dr. Martin

Time and Assignments Completed (Starting at 36 hours)

6/14/12- Weekly Meeting from 10:00-2:00
As a group, we developed a plan for the change in each of our internships. We are now beginning the process of proposing a non-profit organization at Bloomsburg University. The organization will focus on the importance, education, and development of renewable energy. This was a logical and effective transition from our work with Zephyr Electric that fell through. We are now in the stages of researching non-profit organization establishment processes.

6/18/12- Discussion Board, Weekly Reading, and Research from 8:00-11:30
I completed the first discussion board, commenting on many of the concepts discussed in the reading before I even read the pieces. This was no coincidence because I discussed many of the challenged in my internship, along with the necessities for a successful experience. Then, I completed the first of two reading assignments for this week. The first reading also made me realize that the new task of our internship entails the development of a non-profit organization that will be on a college campus, combining two types of sites for service-learning. Before I went to sleep, I did some basic research on establishing non-profit organizations and gaining 501 (c)(3) status.

6/20/12- Reading and Research from 9:30-11:30
I finished the second reading assignment for this week. I learned a little about the role of field-work and research in anthropological study, but I also learned about the importance of writing, rhetoric, and narrative to a profession like this. An array of audiences can be considered in research writing, like the individuals conducting the research, the participants in the study, and the readers of the findings. Ethics is also heavily involved in this process, like all written documents. I also held more research on establishing non-profits organizations.
